Dehradun, March 12, 2025 – A tragic road accident shook Dehradun on Wednesday, just before Holi. A speeding Mercedes car with a Chandigarh number plate lost control near Sai Temple on Rajpur Road and crushed six people, including pedestrians and two people on a scooty.
Four people lost their lives, while two others are injured and undergoing treatment at Doon Hospital. The driver fled the scene after the accident, and police have launched a search operation. This incident has left locals angry, demanding stricter action against reckless driving.

Deceased:
1. Mansharam (30), from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
2. Ranjit (35), from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
3. Two unidentified persons (yet to be identified by the police).
Injured:
1. Dhaniram (from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh), living near Sai Mandir, Dehradun.
2. Mohd. Shakib (from Bihar), living near Uttaranchal Hospital, Dehradun.
Eyewitnesses say the car was moving at very high speed before losing control and hitting the victims.
After the accident, SSP Ajay Singh and SHO PD Bhatt reached the spot with the police force. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem. The police are checking CCTV footage and coordinating with nearby police stations to trace the driver and the car. An intensive checking campaign has started across the city to catch the accused.
